Think Creamsicle with a kick, and packed with a storehouse of nutrients for digestive, brain and heart health, and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s a powerful blend of oranges, banana, ginger root, turmeric root and cinnamon in a dairy-free base with a bit of probiotic. The ground black pepper aids in absorption of the curcumin in turmeric (it won't be tasted). A perfect smoothie to energize and reset your week or anytime you are dragging.
Smoothie tip: buy an extra bunch of bananas, peel and cut in half and keep them in the freezer for quick smoothie making access.
Prep time: 10 minutes

1 medium-large orange, peeled and quartered
1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger root
1 tsp grated fresh turmeric root
⅛ tsp cinnamon
a dash of ground black pepper (one twist of a pepper mill will do)
½ tsp chia seeds
¼ cup non-dairy yogurt, plain, unsweetened
½ cup almond milk, plain, unsweetened
½ frozen banana
Optional:
1 medium-large orange, peeled and quartered
1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger root
1 tsp grated fresh turmeric root
⅛ tsp cinnamon
a dash of ground black pepper (one twist of a pepper mill will do)
½ tsp chia seeds
¼ cup non-dairy yogurt, plain, unsweetened
½ cup almond milk, plain, unsweetened
½ frozen banana
Optional:
- Use ½ banana (unfrozen) and add ¼ cup crushed iced to bring up the cold.
- If you can't find fresh turmeric root, add ⅛ tsp ground turmeric.
- Add your favorite plant protein.
Instructions
1. Place ingredients in a high-speed blender and mix until smooth. (For most high-speed blenders, it is recommended to add the frozen items last.)
